High Institute of public health in Alexandria was founded in 1956 with the purpose to overcoming the marked decrease in the area of higher education and training in the field of public health, the main objective was at that time the provision of health care system in Egypt and other countries in the region with individuals who have sufficient knowledge and skills necessary to implement the process of Health Development effectively and efficiently. It was annexed to the University of Alexandria in 1963, and is the first Institute of higher studies in the eastern Mediterranean region specialist in the field of public health.
